The Association was formed following the disbandment of the three Home Service (HS) Battalions in 2007.
The aims of the Association and Branches are:
- To provide opportunities for members to meet and keep in touch, through organised social events and other activities.
- To maintain contact with former members of the Regiment, their families and Dependants and in cases of need, to provide assistance by the most appropriate means whether or not the person is a member of the Association and or the Northdown Branch.
- To support the Royal Irish Regiment and the Ulster Defence Regiment CGC Benevolent Funds
- To support the Royal Irish Regiment
The Northdown Branch meets formally bi monthly in Newtownards. Please contact the Web Master to be put into contact with other Association Branches.
Membership of the Association and Northdown Branch is opened to all members of the Royal Irish Regiment and former members of the Home Service (HS) Battalions and the Ulster Defence Regiment CGC.
